ML2 Network Adapters are placed into a ML2 slot on equipped System x servers, preserving a PCIe slot. IBM ML2 Adapters also enable the System x server’s management traffic to be combined with the application traffic. 10GbaseT is an economical solution as compared to SFP+. Most notably, 10GbaseT uses unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cables with industry standard RJ45 interfaces. By using these low-cost cables, the expensive DAC cables and Transceivers are no longer needed. 10G BaseT also increases your flexibility when designing your data center because it supports 100M cable lengths and it is compatible with your existing 1000/100/10 Mbps BaseT network switches.
